“BREAKING IN” SECURES SECOND SEASON ON FOX

Back on May, we reported that FOX had dropped the axe on Breaking In, and since we heard this terrible news, RosenbaumMedia as well as all the fans faught hard to bring it back from the dead, and it seems that everyone’s effort didn’t go unnoticed since Fox has finally decided to reverse their decision to cancel Breaking In and had renewed the freshman sitcom for a second season. The 13 episodes are expected to begin airing mid-season at a night and time to be determined.

If you recall, Breaking In debuted in early April to a healthy 3.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.82 million total viewers. With the exception of the fact that it lost a large percentage of the American Idol lead-in, that looked very good. The following week, the series fell 26% to a 2.6 rating and 7.79 million viewers.

Ratings fell a bit after that but seem to have evened off at a 2.4 rating. It’s the sixth highest-rated scripted series currently on the network and outperforms the network’s other two live-action comedies. Of course, it also has the best lead-in audience on television.

Here’s the official — and uncharacteristically brief — press release from FOX about the renewal:

HOT FROM FOX…

“BREAKING IN” SECURES SECOND SEASON ON FOX

FOX has renewed the comedy series BREAKING IN for a 13-episode second season to return to the network’s schedule in 2012, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company.

“BREAKING IN is a creatively vibrant and wildly adventurous comedy,” said Reilly. “We are looking forward to bringing it back for a second season and continuing our relationship with this incredibly talented cast and these fantastic creators – Adam Goldberg and Seth Gordon. We can’t wait to see where they take these characters next year.”

Created by Adam F. Goldberg (“Fanboys”) and Seth Gordon (“Horrible Bosses”), BREAKING IN is a workplace comedy about a high-tech security firm that takes extreme – and often questionable – measures to sell their protection services. The series centers on a team of uniquely skilled oddball geniuses hand-picked to work for OZ, a manipulative mastermind played by Christian Slater. The series also stars Bret Harrison, Alphonso McAuley and Odette Annable.

BREAKING IN is produced by Happy Madison Productions, Adam F. Goldberg Productions and Sethsquatch, Inc. in association with Sony Pictures Television. Goldberg, Gordon and Doug Robinson (“Rules of Engagement”) serve as executive producers.

Shortly after Fox made its official press release, Michael Rosenbaum shared his excitement with his fans on his Twitter page :

Wow! Breaking In is picked up! Miracles do happen. Congrats to my awesome cast and pal @adamfgoldberg

Do You Believe in Second Chances?

Busted Dutch

If you remember well, Michael Rosenbaum announced on his twitter that Breaking In had been canceled by Fox. We were all surprised to hear that news, since this show had a good ratings every week, and people started to get to know every character, especially the hilarious and lovely Dutch (played by Michael Rosenbaum). Fox took such a drastic decision of canceling this comedy, coz they were thinking that it benefited from the good ratings of American Idol, that aired just before it.

But It seems that our voices through Facebook pages and Twitter have finally been heard by Fox, since they are reconsidering canceling the show and they are giving to Breaking In, one last chance to prove them, that they were totally wrong to cancel this promising TV Comedy. So instead of canceling it without strong reasons, they decided to move it to another TV time slot and see how things will work out for it. The final episode titled 21.0 Jump St will now air Tuesday night after “Raising Hope”.

Fox has given a chance to Breaking In fans to prove them that they didn’t get it right, and that the show still has so many things to offer, and Michael Rosenbaum, through his twitter account, is counting on you to support this project he is working on :

Need you guys to tell everyone! Damn! http://t.co/qrbXBMM

The Axe is Dropped on Breaking In … Or Maybe NOT !!!

Michael Rosenbaum

Michael Rosenbaum was the first to announce it on his twitter account !! Fox has canceled “Breaking In”.

Breaking In cancelled.Had an amazing time & love my talented pal @adamfgoldberg.Thanks for support guys.I truly loved this cast. A Sad day.

Source: mrosenbaum711@Twitter

The news of Breaking In was a bit of a surprise. The comedy ‘Breaking In,’ came in as a midseason replacement airing straight after ratings juggernaut ‘American Idol’, and it was indeed on the renewal bubble, but from what we’ve all seen, the ratings were actually quite good for the comedy, which benefited from an American Idol lead in, and we were all expecting Fox to renew this comedy, but reviews have the series itself were mixed. Some loved it, some hated it. Best guess is that FOX thought that the show was only being watched because of the notorious ratings that American Idol draws in each week.

FOX is expected to officially announce the cancellations of Breaking In tomorrow morning.

In more positive news, Fox will air in few hours the 6th and before the last episode of “Breaking In” titled “Breaking Out”. You can check out the photo stills we posted from this episode and read the official description.

Michael Rosenbaum invites all his fans and all those who like this show to watch the two last episodes of Breaking In, and show their support through Twitter.com/savebreakingin, Use #savebreakingin to tell FOX that BREAKING IN should be SAVED!

Twitter.com/savebreakingin – please go to this and watch us tonight. Who freaking knows? This show never says die… just like the GOONIES.

These following few words are going to Michael Rosenbaum :

Maybe Breaking In has been (wrongly) canceled, but your true fans are 100% behind you. You have proved to everyone that you are a very talented actor and an amazing writer, and it’s not a bad news like this one that will make us change our opinion on you. Look to the bright side  your short GHILD won an award in the category “Outstanding Achievement in Short Film-making.” at the Newport Beach Film Festival, and it’s something that you should be proud of, since you are the writer and producer of this positively acclaimed short movie.
